Rugby World Cup Winners

Congratulations to New Zealand on Winning the 8th International Rugby World Cup!
I have to say I had them picked as my winners from the start despite my hopes that Ireland would reign victorious.
New Zealand are the first team to ever win the world cup twice in a row.
They beat Australia 34-17 in the final to retain the Webb Ellis Cup.
The world cup was hosted in England this time and next time it is set to be held in Japan. This is the first time the tournament will be held in Asia. But #RWCIreland2023
At least 5 of the All Blacks players are set to retire now that the tournament is over.

Captain Richie McCaw has announced his retirement after a very successful career. He lead his men 110 times as captain and has been capped 148 times, an international record. In all of his career he has only lost 15 matches. He is also the only man to captain a team to two world cup wins.He is leaving on high captaining New Zealand to their third overall win.

Dan Carter the fly-half with the most international points (1598) also experienced his first world cup win has gone out on a good note. He played in the 2003 world cup when New Zealand lost out to Australia and was injured for the 2011 RWC when the All Blacks claimed victory. Carter also left on high winning man of the match and taking man of the tournament too.

Keven Mealamu the most capped front row forward with 131 caps is siad to be one of teh nicest men in the sport. He played a key role in the 2011 RWC win and has captained the side three time in his 13 year career.

Ma'a Nonu is  a very versatile player with 102 caps to his name. He was left out of the 2007 RWC squad but later proved himself.

Conrad Smith with only 93 caps, not bad in my eyes is the least capped player to retire. Along with Ma'a Nonu he makes up The Firm. He only began playing in 2004 a year later than most of the other retiring this year.

Over all the team will suffer major losses and the replacements will have big boots to fill.
