New Year's Eve

It's new years eve and I'm not saying you shouldn't go out and have a good time, but I just want everybody to be safe. So if you're going out tonight make sure you know your limits and watch your drinks. Make sure you have a safe way home and please be mindful of other people.Watch out for any pets that might be frightened of the fireworks. But most importantly, ENJOY YOURSELF!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! I hope everybody has a safe and merry holiday season. Remember Christmas is about family. It's better to arrive alive so please don't drink and drive.
I hope nobody needs this throughout Christmas but if they do, here is the number for Childline: 1800 66 66 66.
Best wishes for everybody. Merry Christmas!

Ice Skating

Today we went ice-skating! We were supposed to have exams today but they arranged all the exams into two days instead so we could go out today.

We left the school at about 9:15 leaving us just enough time to hear our vice principal announce to the rest of the school (who are still in exams) that we were going ice-skating. I felt kinda bad for them as we drove off in a big bus heading for Blanchardstown while they got to do exams but I soon forgot once we were on our way.
When we got to Blanchardstown we didn't go ice-skating straight away we were given a rendezvous point and time before being unleashed on the shopping centre. My friends and I went around a coupe of the shops, spending most of our time in Penney's and Boots. We went to a couple of other shops as well before we got an early lunch in McDonald's.

When it was time we met up with the rest of our year and walked across to the rink. Here we got our skates on and hit the ice. At first most people were apprehensive to get on but I hadn't been ice-skating in ages so  I went for a lap straight away. It was a really good time because it was only our year on the rink and we could have a good time without worrying about hitting strangers.

The attendants at the rink were really funny and played tag the whole time. When we got onto the ice they decided to stop whatever music they had in favour of the Justin Bieber album and songs from Frozen as well as YMCA.

I had such a good time with all my friends and can't wait to go again.

Mary Poppins

Today we went to see Mary Poopins in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.

The shop was really good. I loved the set. I wanted to be all of the characters and I simply couldn't pick a favourite song. I have to say Bert was my favourite. He just was such a well played part.

I would highly recommend a visit to see it to everybody.

I also had good craic with my friends beforehand.

ISPCC Holly Selling

Today we went into town to sell holly badges for ISPCC. ISPCC are a really good charity that run Childline. This is a phone line that children can call at any time of the day. The service provides somebody to listen and to care. This service is invaluable and helps thousands of children each day.

I had a really good time selling with my two friends Clarissa and Cynthia. At times the day was a bit slow so to keep the boredom away we decided to sing. We sung a mix of Christmas Carols and popular songs in the charts.

After we were finished selling we were allowed to get food and I went to Eddie Rockets with my friend, Tara and we ordered to-go before sneaking into McDonalds to eat with our other friends.

Castleknock Speed Dating

Today we went to Castleknock, a boys school near ours for Language Speed Dating.

We were split into French and Spanish. We talked about things like our family, pets, hobbies and music interests. The boys were very nice and extremely polite. We even got 7up and Chocolate after.

To This Day

So there is this really awesome poem by Shane Koyczan called "To This Day". I think everybody needs to hear it. I'm not usually a poetry person but this poem just rang so true. You can watch it below or read it here.

Work Experience

So yesterday I finished my first work experience placement in the Chemistry labs in Maynooth University. I started my placement on September 23rd and now ten weeks later I have learnt a lot.

During my placement I was mostly helping with setting up for experiments and preparing labs. I know the names of all the equipment that's for sure. My first week I was laminating, and correcting tests and now finishing I was preparing solutions for the third years to use.

I also got to attend a first year chemistry lecture and to use a mass spectrometer.
